Shakine’s portrait with its simple gestures and clever text shows us that fashion’s cuddly bear is a lady killer just like Bond. Just like Bond, Elbaz always wears a dark suit, white shirt and bowtie. There’s an effortless ease in Shakine’s sketch that manages to capture the essence of Elbaz. Shakine spoke about the importance of spontaneity in this series of work and you can see that. The gestures of the line are effortless, quick yet also succinct. He quickly identified Elbaz with Bond but the truth is Elbaz is more Bond than just his clothes. He is the man who women go to in order to feel sexy and powerful. There’s nothing like putting on a Lanvin dress by Elbaz to feel seductive and in charge. It’s the same way that Bond makes his women feel. Both have women wrapped around their finger."
